Davis Scholarship Luncheon
May 22, 2019
A beautiful day today as The Albert & Louise Davis Scholarship Fund of the Rotary Club of Elizabeth awarded $35,000 to 10 extraordinary Elizabeth students.

They will be attending Fordham, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Montclair State, Caldwell, Union County College and the University of Southern California.

Since 1986, the Davis Scholarship Fund has awarded $608,000 to 383 students!

Tour de Elizabeth 2019
May 19, 2019
A huge turnout for the 16th Annual Tour de Elizabeth with lots of Rotary involvement.

Besides being one of the sponsors, on hand were Rotarians Phyllis Reich, Ricardo Diaz, Ken Richuso, Michael Johnson, Kelly McCracken-Villanueva and many Interact volunteers (and riders).

It was a great event and a beautiful day for a ride!




















Weekly Meeting

President Syed Naqvi presented a check to Carly Kriak, Community Access Unlimited Director of Fundraising (and new Rotarian) for our continued support of the Community Access Unlimited Community Players.

Our guest speaker was Anthony DiDonato, Supervisor of Guidance for the Elizabeth Public School System . His topic was the burden of paying for a college education in today’s world.

He expressed his gratitude to our Club for our support of the students in Elizabeth through our Scholarship Foundation. Next week we will award $35,000 to 10 outstanding students, bringing our total since 1986 to $608,000.00.




Anthony was welcomed by President Syed Naqvi and Director of Curriculum & Instruction (and Rotarian) , Aaron Goldblatt.

Teacher of the Year 2019

A wonderful meeting today as we honored the Elizabeth Rotary Club’s 2019 Teacher of the Year, Marsha Henkel (Elmora School 12).



Marsha was selected not only for her incredible teaching skills but also for her involvement in organizing and leading the School’s many Community Service and International Service Projects. She truly represents the Rotary motto of “Service above Self”.



On hand to congratulate Marsha were Elmora School 12 Principal, Melissa Kulick, Teacher of the Year Committee members Ken Richuso, Aaron Goldblatt, Tracy Parham and Rotary Club President Syed Naqvi.

President Syed Naqvi and Rotarian Ken Richuso welcome Jonathan Phillips, Executive Director of Groundwork Elizabeth.

Our Club will be a proud sponsor of Groundwork’s upcoming “Tour de Elizabeth” on May 19th! It’s a great event with ridership now growing to almost 1000 people!

Our special guest speaker was Deputy Chief of Police, Giacomo Sacca.



Deputy Chief Sacca spoke about a variety of issues, in particular the Police Departments efforts with their Community Outreach programs geared toward improving the relationship of the Police Force with the citizens of Elizabeth, especially the City’s youth.
