An excellent program today presented by Katherine Craig, Caretaker of the Boxwood Hall State Historic Site.

We learned more about the rich History of Elizabeth (or Elizabethtown) during the late 1700’s.

Today, visitors to Boxwood Hall can learn about Colonial life and America’s early aristocracy by calling (908) 282-7617.

Service Above Self
August 9, 2018

I know they don’t want acknowledgements or accolades, but I feel I must let you know of something which occurred yesterday and today which is one of the best examples of “Service above Self” I’ve seen in my 30 years of Rotary.

I received a phone call last night at about 9:30 from a Rotary District Governor in Wisconsin. They are sponsoring a Youth Exchange student from Turkey who was stranded at Newark Airport for what would be about 30 hrs. He asked if there was some way our Club could help her out. I sent out an email to our DG with a copy to Art and Syed.

Within a short period of time, Art & Syed were on their way to Newark Airport where they met the young lady and got her situated at a local hotel.

Today, Syed went back, took her to lunch, and got her back to the Airport for her trip to Wisconsin.

I think that’s one of nicest gestures by Club members I’ve ever seen, and we’re lucky to be represented by these two gentlemen. Just thought you should know.

Weekly Meeting
August 1, 2018

Ken Richuso presided over todays meeting and welcomed back Dr. Bok Gyo Jeong who recently returned from his trip to South Africa.

Dr. Jeong presented us with a banner from the Johannesburg Rotary Club which was the first Club on the Continent of Africa.

Our guest speaker was Dan Bernier, Union County Director of Park Planning & Environmental Services, who gave a program on the Union County Falcon cam (ucnj.org/falcon)

We watched the live video and learned many interesting facts about the habits of these beautiful birds.
